Meet Shawn Jacobson: Creator Manager at The Sociable Society
This week, we’re featuring Shawn Jacobson, one of our dedicated Creator Managers who joined TSS over a year ago and has been a dynamic and valued colleague. With a background in TV and Film and a natural ability to pivot during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shawn’s journey into the creator economy is a testament to her adaptability and passion for working alongside creatives. She brings a unique blend of humor, organization, and intuition to her role, making her an invaluable asset to the TSS team.

Read on to discover how Shawn’s journey shaped her career, the lessons she’s learned from creators, and her thoughts on building meaningful creator partnerships.
What skills are essential for thriving in the creator economy today?
Organization, Timeliness, Creativity, Uniqueness
What made you join the creator industry? Did you always know you wanted to be in it?
I fell into it!
I graduated from college in 2020 as COVID was just beginning. I went to school for TV + Film — as I was trying to get a job in that field, that industry was being shut down due to the pandemic.
I needed to find a way to pivot and still work around creatives, and I landed my first job in the industry!
What key lessons have you learned from creators you work with?
It’s okay to go through a funk — personally or creatively. They have taught me it is normal and that the spark will return.
Describe your journey at TSS in one word and explain why.
AMAZING — I have loved the little family I have created with my coworkers as well as the creators on my roster.

What made you choose to work at TSS, and what is your favorite part of your job?
The culture here plus the ability to learn and grow! My favorite part is the relationships I have built with the people I work with!
What is a unique skill you bring to your role?
Humor!!
This job requires a lot of honesty and transparency — which isn’t always rainbows and butterflies. I try my best to lighten the mood with hard conversations when I can!
Describe an ‘a-ha’ moment that has shaped your career.
Trusting my gut!!
I have always needed a lot of reassurance when signing talent. Once I started trusting my intuition and instincts I started thriving!
What productivity hack do you rely on during busy campaigns?
A Desk Calendar — this thing has saved me many times when I am feeling overwhelmed. It allows me to see everything going on a high level view when I am feeling like I am getting lost in the details.
What is the biggest misconception about influencer marketing?
“It is easy!”
I think it is super interesting that is what is said about an industry that is female dominated.
I am in the trenches with creators and I know how much hard work goes into the content that they make and how time consuming filming and editing is.
Not to mention, putting content out into the world that is criticized by thousands of people every day.
What advice would you give brands entering creator partnerships?
Be flexible — let the creator do what they think will perform best on their page! They know their audience best!
What do you prioritize when picking creators for your roster?
Our connection!
If we don’t get along and I can’t feel like we would be friends in real life, I will probably pass.
The connection between a creator and me is paramount for success.
What is your favorite TSS Team moment?
LTK Con when I got to meet some of the team IRL!
How has TSS supported your personal or professional growth?
Many ways, but the biggest thing is allowing me freedom to ask questions and make mistakes without fear of getting in trouble!
It has allowed me to become more confident both personally and professionally.
What is your favorite TSS tradition… or any ideas for a new one 😉
We should do Paper Plate Awards!
Describe TSS team in three words!
Hilarious, Cooky, Over-achievers
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Securing a dream partnership for a creator and being a part of the ride for their milestone moments!
Where is your preferred place to work? Desk, Couch, Bed, Coffee Shop?
Couch with my pup and bunny!
