Interview Introduction: Spotlight on Juan Marquez

This week, we’re thrilled to feature Juan Marquez (@homewithjuan on Instagram and @withjuan on TikTok), a creator whose journey combines creativity, dedication, and strategic foresight. Juan’s foray into social media began as an extension of his professional knowledge and the encouragement of friends who admired his wildly creative ideas. His first viral moment — a tiered cake gift-wrapping concept for the holidays — set the tone for a series of bold, imaginative projects. From meticulously planning content a month in advance to balancing topical ideas with evergreen creativity, Juan’s disciplined yet playful approach showcases his passion for his craft.

A key part of Juan’s journey has been his partnership with The Sociable Society, which began with a leap of faith by his manager, Kiara “Kiki” Upshur. Together, they’ve scaled his success, including a standout collaboration with Crocs, where Juan created a statement-making floor mirror entirely out of the iconic footwear. For Juan, a successful creator-manager relationship is rooted in authenticity and trust — qualities he values deeply in his work with TSS.

As we dive into Juan’s story, you’ll discover the thoughtful processes behind his content, his advice for aspiring creators, and his vision for the future of social media. With high-production content on the horizon and a commitment to staying true to his creative spirit, Juan is just getting started.

Dive Into Juan Marquez’s World: Creativity, Strategy & Bold Ideas With A Social Media Pro

How did you get started with social media? Was it a goal of yours or on a whim, and which platform?

I’ve actually been a professional social media manager for a few years now — working and managing the social channels of some crazy fun brands!

Last year, around this time, I decided to take all that knowledge from my professional career and apply it to my personal life!!

My friends have also always said that I should document all my crazy wild creative ideas so I decided to finally just do it!

What were you doing (or where were you in life) before you started on social media?

Social media manager (and still am during the day! 9-to-5 baybeeeee)

Who were some of the creators or influencers you looked up to when you first started posting on social media?

Was there a specific piece of content or instance in which you went viral or was it a slower build up over time? How did you feel and what did you do afterwards?

My very first viral post was a tiered cake gift wrapping idea I had for Christmas gift wrapping last year!

At what point did you decide to go “all-in” on social media? What were the factors that made you decide to pursue content creation full-time? Did you have a back-up plan?

Honestly it’s been such a build up over the past year — I feel like I went all in from the jump as well because I do take it seriously!

I operate almost as if my social channels are like their own little business.

Every creator’s creation process is different. Take us through how you typically create content? Do you have a set process or how much of it is on the fly?

Okay so I’m a little bit crazy and I literally plan/create everything like a month in advance.

My ideas usually start either in my notes app or running list of random crazy ideas I have.

A month out that’s when I start pulling the ones I want to tackle, while also sprinkling in other ideas that are topical to the month. Then for about two weeks I go all in shooting a months worth of videos, send everything off to my editor, then schedule everything so I don’t have to worry about it!

If you could go back to when you started your journey as a creator and give yourself two pieces of advice, things to keep in mind, or things you’ve learned — what would you say to yourself?

Honestly to just have fun with it! I still do and it’s definitely a spirit I will never lose when it comes to making content because I do truly have way more fun.

Oh and to start YouTube and Instagram sooner lol.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten for being a creator?

Clock in like clocking in to a 9-to-5.

Is there a piece of content or story you’ve shared that is most memorable to you? Why is it meaningful?

I feel like whenever I create supercuts of all my projects I usually get a little bit emotional to see the progress I’ve made all in one place.

How did you hear about or get connected with The Sociable Society? In what ways have TSS helped you pursue your goals and aspirations?

My iconicccccccc manager Kiki reached out to me!!

I was still starting out when she did so I am so thankful for her taking that risk on me and being willing to be on this journey with me, and it’s been SOOO fun to just scale things more and more as time goes on — I feel like I’m only getting started.

What’s been your biggest “win” with The Sociable Society?

THE ICONIC HOUSE OF KIKIIII

What do you value most in a Creator Manager?

Someone who keeps it real and is like a real friend to me !

To date, what has been your favorite or most memorable brand partnership? Tell us why?

Crocs — they came to us and wanted me to bring some CRAZYYYYY ideas.

I love when brands really want me to go all in because trust and believe I will if they’re down.

We ended up landing on a concept where I made an entire floor mirror out of crocs, and it turned out pretty iconic.

@withjuan

dare i say this is one of my favorite things i’ve ever made? 😭 #crocsgang #mirrorproject #maximalistdecor
