Introducing Alexa Hendricks: From D1 Athlete to Full-Time Creator
This week, we’re excited to feature Alexa Hendricks (@achendricks on Instagram and TikTok), a dynamic content creator who seamlessly transitioned from being a Division 1 volleyball athlete to a full-time influencer.

Alexa’s journey began during her college years at Louisville, where her passion for photography and being in front of the camera led her to create engaging content like “Get Ready With Me” videos, transitions, and vlogs. Her authentic approach resonated with audiences, and post-graduation, she pivoted to focus on beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content.
Her big break came when her team reached the national championship, a moment that catapulted her into the spotlight. Collaborations with brands like Coach and memorable experiences such as her first brand trip with Amazon highlight her successful transition into the influencer world.
Guided by her manager, Julia, Alexa emphasizes the importance of consistency, patience, and authenticity in her content creation journey.
Join us as we dive into Alexa’s story, exploring her creative process, the lessons she’s learned, and her vision for the future of content creation.
How did you get started with social media? Was it a goal of yours or on a whim, and which platform?
I started when I was an athlete in college. I played volleyball at Louisville and did GRWM, transitions, and vlogs.
I’ve always loved taking pictures and being in front of the camera but didn’t realize I could make it a job. Post volleyball I pivoted to beauty, fashion, lifestyle!

What were you doing (or where were you in life) before you started on social media?
In college playing volleyball! I started playing volleyball when I was like 10 so that was basically my whole life before social media!
Was there a specific piece of content or instance in which you went viral or was it a slower build up over time? How did you feel and what did you do afterwards?
Yes, I went viral when my team made it to the national championship!
I would also do game day questions of the day with all my teammates and everyone loved those.
I also got a flower seed stuck in my cheek once and went very viral for that.
At what point did you decide to go “all-in” on social media? What were the factors that made you decide to pursue content creation full-time? Did you have a back-up plan?
Right after I graduated. I knew I wanted to continue social media but didn’t know how.
Management (The Sociable Society) reached out right after graduating and I continued pursing it!
Every creator’s creation process is different. Take us through how you typically create content? Do you have a set process or how much of it is on the fly?
A little of both!
Some content I plan out — especially if it is a big event like my birthday, Halloween, fun party etc. — I will plan what transitions and what I want to make, but other than that, it is on a whim!

If you could go back to when you started your journey as a creator and give yourself two pieces of advice, things to keep in mind, or things you’ve learned — what would you say to yourself?
To be consistent and show as much as your personality as possible.
My volleyball days I didn’t show a ton of my personality because I was scared to but that’s what people want to see! They want to get to know you!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten for being a creator?
Consistency and patience is key. Very rarely do people blow up overnight and 99% of influencers take years to grow their platforms!
How did you hear about or get connected with The Sociable Society? In what ways have TSS helped you pursue your goals and aspirations?
They reached out to me! My manager has monthly calls with me and always asking if there is anything more that I need, what goals I have, etc., and how she can help me get there!
What’s been your biggest “win” with The Sociable Society?
My first brand trip with Amazon!
What do you value most in a Creator Manager?
Trust and being on top of things.
Julia does a great job checking in and making sure I’m also on top of things!
To date, what has been your favorite or most memorable brand partnership? Tell us why?
Coach! It was one of my first partnerships when I started before signing with TSS.
I resigned with Coach a year later once I was with TSS for a whole year and I just absolutely love Coach products. They have made a huge comeback.
What’s one thing in 2024 that brands should know about working with creators, but don’t?
That we love working with brands that let us have a good amount of creative freedom.
It is nice when they give inspo videos but also trust us to make something our audience will enjoy watching!
Since you started, how has the social media and/or creator space changed?
Reels are so important to growing on Instagram (which wasn’t the case years ago!)
What are some trends of shifts you did not expect coming?
I never expected Reels or Shorts on YouTube to be as big as they are.
I don’t watch a lot of Reels on Instagram because I’m on TikTok a lot so the Reels really surprised me.
Any projects, news, or exciting details/sneak peaks you’d want to share?
A very fun deal with Chase and Southwest — going on a sister trip to Hawaii with them!
Any special shoutouts, mentions, thank you’s or anything else you’d want to share?
Yes! Shout out to my manager, Julia, who shows up every day even on the weekends or when she is “out of office” she is always on top of things and makes sure I am as well!
I am very thankful for everything she has done for me and taught me with social media!
